the new ford ranger will be revealed this week

The Ford Ranger is sold worldwide, but Americans have been slower to get new variants and models. That’s about to change, as Ford recently confirmed that it would reveal the truck on Wednesday, May 10.

The event will include the reveal of Ford’s standard Ranger, which has been on sale in other markets for a while. We’ll also see the first Ranger Raptor in the United States. Though the beefy off-roader gets 284 horsepower in other countries, it’s expected to pack a healthy upgrade by the time it arrives.

Though we already know what the truck will look like, Ford decided to start teasing it anyway, releasing hints a few days ago. In it, Ford shows a couple of different Ranger models’ tailgates, including the Raptor.

The basic Ranger is expected to carry Ford’s 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the Raptor is said to be getting a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. It will get updated tech with new touchscreens and camera options, along with the latest Sync software.

While most of the new Ranger’s formula is well known, Ford could have some tricks up its sleeve. Toyota’s planning the reveal of its new Tacoma soon, so Ford can’t let its main midsize truck rival steal the show. We don’t have long to wait for answers, though, as the event is coming this week.

Not really much new. Typical hype over substance.

I wonder how long before it's first recall?

    Big Al,

Seems the author has confused horsepower and kilowatts. Check out what the Aussie Ranger Raptor power output is.

The VW Amarok is the 2.3 Eco Boost, I think its about what the author wrote.

To be fair, the author may be quoting EU hp.
